Asanbosam/Sasabonsam

Location/origin:
West Africa

Traits:
Ogre-ish. Smelly, large, iron teeth, bloodshot eyes, long legs, hooked feet and a snake-like tail. They often live in trees, waiting for unsuspecting prey below.

Notes:

These brutes are similar to the sinister Yaramayawho from Australia, but have even less subtlety. Some have declared the Asanbosam and Sasabonsam to be different, but I have word the bloodline has mixed to the point they are almost indistinguishable. Easier to kill, I suppose.

Impundulu

Location/origin:
South Africa

Traits:
An incubus in the form of a large white bird resembling lightning. But more dangerously, an Impundulu can also take the form of an attractive man, capable of irresistible seduction.

Notes:
Often a witch’s servant, this creature is devastating unless fed well with blood and controlled by sex. It revels in blood and pain, and worryingly is often passed across generations, perpetuating its bloodline. Worse, an ownerless Impundulu can spread chaos, disease and infertility. Surprisingly – and thankfully – there are said to be scant few left in this world, if any at all.

Edimmu/Ekimmu

Location/origin:
Ancient Sumer

Traits:
One of the oldest types of vampire. Demonic, ghostly, wraith-like. Capable of possession.

Notes:
I don’t know anyone alive who has met an Edimmu – but therein lies the danger. Given their abilities to possess the living, they could well be clandestinely subsisting among us. Although given their vicious feelings towards the living, this is unlikely.

Indeed, it was their inability to contain their rage which led them to possible extinction via powerful exorcisms or more… shall we say, non-traditional magicks. It would take someone of great will to contain their ire, for them to exist in our society undetected.
